Shortage designation identifies an area, population, or facility experiencing a shortage of health care services. There are several different types of shortage designations such as Health Professional Shortage Areas, Maternity Care Target Areas, Medically Underserved Areas and Populations, Exceptional Medically Underserved Population, and Governor’s Designated Secretary Certified Shortage Areas for Rural Health Clinics.
The HRSA Data Warehouse does not advertise requests for grant proposals, nor does it host any applications for specific grants. However, the HDW contains information that may be useful to prospective applicants.
Resources that may help prospective applicants for various grants would include information on shortage areas, rural health eligibility, and tools to help identify high need regions and populations like the Unmet Need Score Map tool and the Geocare Navigator.
