National Survey of Organ Donation Attitudes and Practices
The National Survey of Organ Donation Attitudes and Practices (NSODAP) is a nationally representative survey conducted to understand public opinion about organ donation and transplantation and how those opinions have shifted over time. Data and the reports for the 2019 and 2012 surveys are currently available.
2019 National Survey
The 2019 National Survey was completed by 10,000 U.S. adults online or by phone. Key findings include:
- Current support for organ donation
- Number of registered donors and mean of registration
- Discussion with family members about organ donation and their wish
- Beliefs about organ donation and transplantation
- Allocation of organs by medical urgency or geographic location
- Sources of information on organ donation in the past year

The 2012 National Survey was completed by more than 3,200 U.S. adults online or by phone. Key findings include:
- Willingness to donate organs
- Willingness to donate hands and face
- Number of registered donors
- Attitudes toward financial incentives for organ donation
- Allocation of organs by medical urgency or geographic location
