Abstract Text: Healthy Rural California, Inc. Community Psychiatry Residency is a new consortium. We began training residents in June 2024. We are an eligible non-profit 501c3 entity seeking priority funding because we are in a Medically Underserved Area (MUA) and mental health Healthcare Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) rural and underserved region of Northern California. Our website is healthyruralca.org. Healthy Rural California, Inc. is accredited by ACGME as a Sponsoring Institution and is also accredited for a new Psychiatry Residency. Healthy Rural California's Psychiatry Residency successfully recruited our first class of Psychiatry Residents who matriculated in June 2024. Healthy Rural California's Psychiatry Residency's main primary care training location is Butte County Behavioral Health (BCBH) in Chico and Oroville. BCBH will provide the required continuity clinic, outpatient and inpatient, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry rotations. BCBH has been serving Butte County, a rural county, for 55 years and provides care to youth and adults. BCBH treatment consists of a continuum of prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery support systems. BCBH provides mental health and substance use treatment to Medi-Cal beneficiaries and provides crisis interventions to the community, regardless of insurance status. The population of the area served by BCBH is diverse, including a Hmong community in Oroville and several tribal nations. Healthy Rural California requests THC funding for all four years for four- FTE. This is a 4-4-4-4 curriculum. There were no residents trained in the program in the prior AY. We are applying for HRSA-25-091. Healthy Rural California requests THC funding for four FTE to support our new Psychiatry Residency for the first AY 2024-2025. Healthy Rural California's new Psychiatry Residents will perform rotations at sites that have not provided resident training in any prior AY, including Butte County Behavioral Health.
