PM targets that need to be reached are: Standardized pediatric readiness recognition program for prehospital EMS agencies (PM 02), prehospital pediatric emergency care coordinator designation (PM 04), demonstration of pediatric-specific equipment (PM 05), prehospital agencies having a disaster plan that address the needs of children (PM 06), hospital emergency department pediatric emergency care coordinator designation (PM 07), and hospital emergency department disaster plans that address the needs of children (PM 08). GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: The grant goal is to implement and maintain the Federal EMSC PMs, and continue to enhance the pediatric readiness of the Tennessee EMS System, by: 1. Developing processes to assure compliance with PMs 02, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08. 2. Continuing to maintain achievement in all other performance measures. 3. Increasing state average score in National Pediatric Readiness Assessment by 10 points. 4. Participating in pediatric readiness quality improvement collaborative that begins January 2023 as defined by the EIIC. METHODOLOGY: Conduction of statewide assessments will be performed to identify progress/status with PM achievement. Online surveys and resources will be provided by the EMSC Data Center (EDC), and EMSC staff will coordinate data collection and analysis. Findings will be distributed to key stakeholders via meetings, website, and annual report to legislature. Resources will be provided to hospitals to increase their Pediatric Readiness scores, and assistance provided to quality collaborative training sites. COORDINATION: The TN EMSC program is a partnership between Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the TN Department of Health, Division of EMS. The grant Project Director in collaboration with EMSC Advisory Board, EMSC committees, EMSC project team, FAN representative and other EMSC coalition members will continue to educate and advocate for achievement of the PMs. EVALUATION: Data gathered through the PM assessments will be reviewed and progress noted in HRSA EHB. Progress on each PM will be reviewed, and implementation strategies will be developed to address gaps.
