The overarching purpose of SSDI is to strengthen the MCH-related data systems and improve MCH outcomes in the state by increasing capacity to collect, analyze, and use reliable data for Arkansas Title V policy and program development. The Arkansas SSDI focuses on expansion of data linkages of key MCH datasets for analysis, improved access to and analysis of health equity data, and translation of data into action at the regional and state level. The SSDI continues to assist Arkansas MCH and Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) programs with ongoing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts in the yearly Title V MCH Block Grant Application and Annual Reports. SSDI program efforts to provide MCH programs with access to timely data and information to monitor health indicators and to develop innovative programs and polices directed toward improving the health and well-being of Arkansas’ mothers, children, and families. SSDI will also provide the flexibility to shift focus, including addressing MCH data capacity needs during an emergency and as emerging issues or threats arise such as the COVID-19. Arkansas Systems Development Initiative will: * Strengthen capacity to collect, analyze, and use reliable data for the Title V MCH Block Grant to assure data-driven programming * Strengthen access to, and linkage of, key MCH datasets to inform MCH Block Grant programming and policy development, and assure and strengthen information exchange and data interoperability * Enhance the development, integration, and tracking of health equity and social determinants of health (SDoH) metrics to inform Title V programming * Develop and enhance capacity for timely MCH data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization to inform rapid state program and policy action related to emergencies and emerging issues/threats. The SSDI project will continue to integrate the various offices at the Arkansas Department of Health to improve collaboration necessary for accurate and timely statistical information on Maternal and Child Health. The SSDI team at the Health Statistics Branch will work closely with other programs such as Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, the Arkansas School Readiness Indicators Initiative, Infant Mortality Action Group, Family Health, March of Dimes, Arkansas Center for Birth Defects Research and Prevention, Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, Arkansas Children's Hospital, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Community Integrated Service Systems program, and Arkansas Primary Care Cooperative Agreement Office.
